HI
I was given a Mariner 25M from a guy that I work with. He told me that he had it running last weekend but it has a problem! I believe there is a crack in the cylinder wall! He has it covered up with JB weld but didn't do a very good job and he said it leeks when running. I haven't been able to start it up yet to see for myself but I am wondering if there is any way this could be repaired? I don't know if it could be welded or maybe bronzed? Even a better JB weld job? Any ideas would be great!
Thanks

is the crack in the "cylinder" wall or the block/water jacket surounding the cylinder

Now that I have been thinking about it it would make sense that it would be in the water jacket! It's right behind the electronic box/coil! I will try and get a pic!

You can see in these pics the grey area which is JB weld. The crack is behind that!

It looks like the water jacket is cracked.A good welder could fix it bit the engine would have to be dissassembled to keep from damaging anything else. You could try to remove the existing jb weld and clean and rough up the area around the crack. It MUST be clean .if it wasnt cleaned very well when it was patched then it could leak and roughing up the metal a little gives the jb weld something to grab on to.
