Cracked gimbal housing

Hi, first time posting on this great site.
A month ago my 95 omc cobra sx gimbal housing just cracked (photos attached) , i pulled the engine, drive and made a weld on it. Do you think it may be working well or should i get another gimbal housing?
Where i live it is very difficult to find these parts and in case of buy new one it is very an expensive option.

Do you know any other case of a crack like this? With this kind of repair?

Not sure that will last. Is it actually an aluminum weld or something else like JB weld?
Where that piece is there is a lot of pressure.Only a GOOD aluminum weld job will hold there.
I'd start looking for a new transom assy.
