I sent my boat and outboard motor (Johnson 25hp) to the local boat shop, for a tune-up. It was returned after 2 weeks, with a crack (complete seperation) on the mounting boss of the lower leg, that supports the gearcase. The shop had attempted a very dodgey repair to no avail.
They charged us for the tune AND their dodgey repair, while returning the motor in an unserviceable condition. We refused to pay. It is now in court?!?!?!?
Has anyone seen this sort of cracking before?
Is it a typical fault, or are these guys really backyard butchers?
Thanks,
Lyn
