Hi there im new to the forum and just like to say hello!!
I have a 1990 4.3 mercruiser inboard which i failed to winterize properly. As a result i know have 2 cracked exhaust manifolds ouch!!!:mad:I removed the drain plugs on the block and risers but didint realise i had to remove the pipes on the manifolds.I fired her up the other day she run fine i only run for about 20 mins with muffs on then i noticed water dripping from underneath the manifolds . The cracks only seem to be on the outer wall as the inner jacket seemed dry . I checked the oil it still seemed clear no white sludge etc.My main concern now is has the block/head been damaged .Does anyone know if this is likely even though i drained the block???Also would 20 miniutes running with muffs on be long enough to contaminate the oil with water if there was engine damage there was no white smoke or any other symptoms.
thanks guys ian ash

Re: Cracked manifolds

Howdy,

If you truly drained the block, then it should be just fine. You do need to replace the manifolds though. I would also carefully inspect the risers. If there's any question, replace them.
