Well, as I was washing my boat this morning, I noticed there are cracks on the strakes on my hull. I have just over 20 hrs on the clock and just scheduled an appointment for the 20 hour service/oil change. Yeah, it's covered under warranty, but I'm very upset about this. I expected to have a boat that would last for a very long time for the money I spent on a brand new boat. I hope this doesn't turn into a long drawn out hassle leaving me holding the bag. I talked to the dealership today and he said they will do whatever it takes to either repair or replace the hull. I'm thinking repairing the cracks will not keep it from happening again. This is really a bad deal.

Any news from Glastron on the situation?

I've put my dealer on alert about my issue I am having with mine, and I was directed to bring it to my local fiberglass boat repair shop. They will be able to tell if mine is a serious issue or just some cosmetic issues with the gel coat, but every strike on the hull has these fracture lines. Not like yours, but like the ones I posted on the other forum.

I spoke with the dealership yesterday and picked up my boat after the 20 service. He said Glastron has a service ticket for my hull, but since they are in the process of moving to Michigan, it would be best to wait until later in the season to send it back. Meanwhile he said to use it for another 20 hours or so then bring it in to see if there is more damage occurring.

What did they do for the 20hr service? My owners manual said to take it in after 50hrs of break in??

I took my boat to get looked at, and the repair shop said they are calling it "poor mold prep" and gel coat voids. Its not a structural issue which I was fearing. They are writing everything up and getting in touch with my dealership to have it all done under warranty. They are going to wet sand, buff and re-gel coat where necessary. I must say, anything boating wise has been a very good experience. From the dealership being straight forwards with me, and the fiberglass repair shop being straight up and willing to help anyway possible.

Much less stressful than dealing with car dealers/repair shops.

Must be different schedule for Volvo and Mercruiser. Same engine and very similar outdrive, different service schedule.
The 20 hour service was an engine oil and filter change, check gear lube and fluids, check hoses clamps, brackets, wiring and connections. That's what they billed me for anyway.
