I love Craigslist. I get a kick out of perusing all the ad's. I look at cars, trucks boats, tools and such. The boat ad's really crack me up. Most are without titles and are, for the most part, a way to get to know the code enforcement man (those of us that live in town.) So in essence, people (sellers) are asking you (buyers) to pay for the pleasure of hauling their trash off.
I don't know about other states, but here in Texas, it is near impossible to get a boat and motor title for anyone other than the owner of record. I can't tell you how many ad's I see that say "no title, but will give 'bill of sale'." Or another good one is, "I don't have the title, but I know the old owner."
Here is a good one, I wouldn't mind fixing this up, but for me, they'd have to come way off the price. Or, maybe I'm just cheap! :p

Re: Craigslist Ads

$2,000?

ok, 1k, bu really, its useless without that hard to find trailer.

that boat would sell in 8 seconds here though. (not for 2k, more like 1k w/ trailer)

Titles used to be cake to get. I bought my first truck with a bill of sale written on a brown paper bag. Now, hell no.
Lein sale is the easiest way these days (book of paperwork, and 30 day wait)

Cars and trucks are are easier to do here. And, as best as I could tell, only mechanics and storage places can to lien sales.

As far as this boat, I might go $500.

Re: Craigslist Ads

That is true here too.
Locally, there is a 'registration services' place. they charge $30 to do one.
Well worth it if you ask me.

Re: Craigslist Ads

My son is perusing craigslist for his first car. Some of the ads crack me up "needs a little tlc", "might need a little engine work". I called on one that said "might need some engine work", yeah, just a complete rebuild due to a rod knocking. Most have bad auto transmissions too.
Lots of similar boats around here too, "fixer-upper" is secret code for 'come clean up my yard, and pay me for the opportunity to do it'.

He bought one off craigslist tonight. I had class so my Dad picked him up and took him to see it. '88 Bronco II, needs a battery, a tune up, and a good buffing. New radiator, alt, and heater core, new clutch a couple years ago. My Dad said the power windows and locks worked, rear wiper works, interior is in very nice condition, engine runs great, 4WD works fine too. Getting it for $600. We'll be picking it up tomorrow night.
