crank bearing loose on 70hp rebuild?

I'm putting together a 1985 70hp 49ci motor. the split bearing/race on the left is easy to wiggle side to side to the point were it almost touches the side of the crank. i know these are 2 piece split bearings with only a wire clip holding them together, but should they wiggle that much? its a few mm atleast.20201017_002232.jpg i don't remember any of them this loose. it did take me an hour to line up all 3 dowel pins (had it in the first 10 min but then i took the crank out to double-check lol) so maybe i compromised that dowel pin were the bearing is loose by setting the crank on it a dozen times to get the bearings to line up? im probably just being paranoid as there isn't much lateral movement of these bearings when the motor is running, but better safe than sorry!

The dowel pin is what locates it from moving side to side (actually up/down in right side up configuration).

Don't know why it took an hour to line it up. I seriously doubt laying the crank on the dowel damaged anything. After all, how else can you do it?

yes i understand it's function. i'm pretty confident all is good. the split bearings make it difficult to get all 3 at once, since you can't see the exact depth and orientation when the crank is covering the pins. the split bearings themselves are easy enough, but what gave me trouble was the crank upper bearing since it has more play and the 0-ring to contend with. it looks really easy to get the 0-ring not seated in its groove perfectly.

The bearings tell me when the fall onto the dowels.----Nothing to it.
