Re: crank flywheel coupler studs/nuts

I've got to get new studs for the coupler / crank connection which sandwiches the flywheel.

the part number is 0911927 and seems to be unavailable or costs 15$+ per stud.

Anyone know if the merc part is the same? http://bpi.ebasicpower.com/pc/MAL9-72510/MER6E/Stud+Kit,+Coupler+to+Flywheel,+Mercruiser+16-98532A1 looks exactly the same.

Any other creative ideas for getting these things? no local shop has them in stock.

Ayuh,.... I would think so,.... They're pretty much just 3/8" studs, fine on 1 end, 'n course thread on the other....

Mine were fine on both sides too. My 6 year old lost one of mine. Fastenal ordered me a grade 8 with locking nut also. Like 3 bucks. If original are not grade 8 you could just use fine "all thread" and some locking nuts. I used grade 8 with the lock nuts and red locktight in the crank flange. I dont know what spec is and dont care. Grade 8 plus locktite=no loose stuff. I got three years out of it first time. Had to use propane torch to get the studs loose to do a engine swap. Red locktite comes right off with very little heat on the stud.
