hello again, finally got the flywheel off (three pieces) and got the head disassembled. I found the lower crankshaft bearing was missing a bearing in it??? Pistons looked pretty good with just a little carbon on head and cylinder walls were still smoothe.
As you recall history of motor I had to replace lower unit which the gears had blown out thru the casing, do you think perhaps the torque involved messed up the lower crank shaft bearing??
Anyway, what is the best way to get the end cap off the crankshaft?? Will this need to be replaced with a new one after its removal?
Oh, I ended up removing the hib on top of the flywheel and i did make marks to rejoin it just as it was, but i was not aware that the hub removed would also take out the outer ring of flywheel( that which holds the magnets) and would leave a 4 inch diameter piece on the crankshaft. Anyway, I was finally able to pull the 4 inch piece off the shaft. my question is, will there be a problem orientating the magnets in their right postition when I go to reassemble?? Hope not. thanks again for your thooghts and help. ryan
