Alright short back ground the wifes grandfather has been sick and was on a respirator and all that,he's doing real good now,my wife being a nurse has been in charge of all his medicine,
Well yesterday she finds out her aunt is getting painpills filled on his behalve 90 a month, and this has been going on for months, her grandfather said he taking them things and dont want no part in them,so my wife calls and has the perscription canceled and terminated.Well the aunt went to pick them up and of course they wouldnt give them to her,she called over at the grandfathers and got to cussing my wife out for doing that, the wife said she was'nt wasting her time talking about it,the aunt came as we were leaving and was trying to stop us so i drove to our littl police station and she followed got out of the car and hit the passenger window, this really pissed me off but i just drove off seeing that the cops were'nt going to come out, anyway i went on home the wife got ready for work, the aunt calls threating come to the house and to the wifes work,i told her best thing she could do is stay at the house, that i better not even see her pull in my driveway.Talking about pill heads, its a shame to abuse your sick father like that and get mad over something like that.i'm proud of myself for not just beating the **** out of her,but like i told the wife in sitiuations like this keep a calm head and let the police take care of it.
So should we get a restrining order on her or just let it blow over?

Sounds like she needs hospitilization herself. Either to treat an addiction or to find why she needed them in the fisrt place. You're wife's in the perfect occupation to find an appropriate source for help. She's visiting your Gramps at the hospital, right? They have people that deal with things like this and she's already in the door. Besides, she's a relative. You don't want to rat her out unless it gets violent.

She has commited a crime, Its called FRAUD!! She should pay the price and it needs to be reported to the appriopate personal. She needs to be punished for using your Grandfather as a means to feed her addiction....only my opinion......God Bless

She wasnt really trying to kill herself, or she wouldnt have made the call. She wanted attention and sympathy.

Stick to your guns and dont let her get over on you.

Re: Crazy family members

Terrible story and one that goes on all the time: she won't be the first or last. I've dealt with too many similar cases to know any different.
For what it's worth there is only one option here and it's a tough first step to take: you've got to report this. She is probably clever enough to hide it from the medics at the hospital (I'm assuming she was seen after taking the overdose?). The majority of people addicted to anything can usually manipulate others extremely well. The problem is they can also manipulate their own truth so that they rationalise what it is they are doing.

The first step is confrontation and getting intervention. There is no way around that, anything else is merely prolonging the inevitable and also continuing the damage to all concerned. With intervention and the correct help things may well work out a whole better in the future but don't invest too much time until you're sure that the manipulating has stopped.

Now get reporting the case and remember you have plenty of support from your fellow docksiders.

Re: Crazy family members

1st I would wait and see if she gets her fix somewhere else, you just caused a short term spike in supply!

Believe me these people know "who" to turn to get more.

2nd - this is if you want to pursue the issue, I would go to the pharmacist and speak to them about the issue, and see if they have the proper paper work to release the pills to someone other then the patient. I would certainly ask THEM why they were giving the pills not to the patient AND then ask the DOCTOR the same questions, in most states it is illegal to perscribe refills to these pills, the doctor has to SEE the patient in order to refill the prescription.

If they dont they will certainly start to sweat it out and ask if they want to report a misuser of the system, if they do not care - then I would suggest the county prosecutor or state medical office to report the abuse.

Of course this will really turn the heat up on Auntie

My wife needs meds for her migrains and her doctor is audited all of the time for perscriptions to match to demand.

This is what got rush into trouble which was doctor shopping, because doctors are limited in the amount they can prescribe they go from doctor to doctor to get the amounts the druggy's need

tomatolord

Re: Crazy family members

You did the right thing, Ron. I got a little taste of crazytown myself through my inlaws - it's hard to believe what people will actually do - like blaming somebody else for their actions - they could get help if they really wanted it but nobody can help a person who won't take responsibility for her own actions. especially when other crazy people are making it possible for them to avoid really getting help - like people who turn their backs and allow pill fraud to go on without doing something. Sad and sometimes frustrating. Easy way out is to pretend it ain't happening - harder to do the right thing. Good job making the tough choice.
