We have only had our '65 Westfield a short while and the motor has been a project for the duration of that. But, last night we finally got our '66 Johnson 80 back to life and it seems to be running good.
My question is about the MFG stock tach, which seems to be reading way high. At what seems like a normal idle it reads between 3 and 4 thousand RPMs. We checked the wiring at the motor against the factory wiring diagram.
We noticed some pins and a jumper on the back of the tach itself - is it possible it is set for the wrong engine type or something like that? Anyone know what that should be for a 2-cycle 4 cylinder?
