Creaking monster tower!!!!

my monster tower creaks when towing but silent otherwise. i've been on other boats that rattle when moving, towing or not. anyone else experience similar problems? all bolts are tight. it's nice to say that this is my only boat issue (if you could even call it that) at the moment (touch wood). it's no biggy but monster say their towers are silent - guaranteed!!!!!

It's entirely possible that it creaks because your hull is flexing as the leverage shifts from side to side - which in turn would make the tower creak.

The tower in your picture looks like the down arms attach directly to the boat - that type of tower is much more succeptible to flexing the boat than the type which has side bars which tie the front and rear mounts together on each side.

Mine squeaks a little while no weight on it and hitting some choppy water, silent when towing.

My Monster Tower also creaked. I tightened all the large nuts but that didn't help. I finally realized that it was the small allen head bolts that needed tightening. After tightening those, all creaking was eliminated. Let me know if this works for you.

what size back up plates does the monster tower come with?

Monster Tower backing plates are the same size as the tower base....3 inches long 2 inches wide.

I would try inserting fiber washers between the pieces. It should absorb the noise.

hi colm,

the tower was on the boat when i bought it. it was fitted by full circle marine in kesh (as far as i know). ask for a guy called joe hull. (his real name, i promise) there are loads on ebay if you fancy fitting yourself. my friend has fitted 2 towers on 2 boats with no problems. i know another dealer who sells them but he is in coleraine. pm me if you want his number.

the monster mt1/mt2 towers are 1000+, monster mte towers are cheaper, 700 ish. other cheaper towers would start around 600/650 euro. to be honest i like to shop around and am a bit of a tight git so buy stuff online to make sure i get the best price, after all, wakeboard gear is expensive stuff! i just bought 2 wakeboard racks from ebay, total bargain at ?160 delivered! that's basicially the price of 1 over here.

I have only started wakeboarding, the end of last year, so getting more into it now.
I bought a wakeboard last year for 100 euro. some I know bought it in aldi for 250 by mistake thought it was a body board.

So I think its time to buy a new one. Any advice on board or where to buy one.
