I am soon to be a first time pontoon buyer and am currently looking at a 2007 Crest 20 foot pontoon with a 90hp. Boat is in excellent condition. Currently priced at 14,500...
Are these good boats and is the how does the asking price look?
thanks

Crest has been around for a long time and they make some solid boats IMO. I am on my phone right now so I can't comment on the price. Pics and knowing how many hours are on the motor would help as well.

I have rented several Crest pontoons in the past and they were well built and lots of fun.

Okay. After checking around it appears that is a great price on a 2007.

Agree with Rick. The Crest toons are built like tanks. And that's a good price too.

Yup, Crest is one of the better pontoons on the market.

Have the engine checked out by a marina to make sure it is all good if you cna do it yourself and of coarse on on water test drive is a must, other than the engine not much to go wrong with a toon.

Depending on your location, $14,500 sounds a little high. Remember that is a buyers market for boats and RV's...

That's a bit of a stretch. We're not talking about a '78 Bayliner:rolleyes:. Generally anything under 20 foots is considered somewhat less desirable, so $14.5K may or may not be a tad much depending on where you are, but it's definitely worth serious consideration. How do you plan to use it?

Seeing as it's only 3-4 years old I think 14,500 is a fair price. What puts it up so high is the bigger motor so I can see why it's priced what it is.

Without knowing the brand if it's a two stroke or four stroke and model of Crest it's hard to get a fair price. A 2007 Mercury two stroke retails at $6,500 and a crest II LE 20 ft according to NADA Guides says retail Value is $15,825 so based on those figures I think it's a very good buy. Also you didn't say if it has a trailer. That will add $1,600- $2,000 more to the value. Check it out at nadaguides.com

So Totaling up that makes it worth about $21,000 and Since Crest has been around probably 50 years. Yes I would recommend you buy it.

$4,250 http://www.nadaguides.com/ Pontoon Ave retail, $9,040 So if it has a trailer. It's still a very good buy at that price. No trailer = just a regular blue book price, ave buy.

Re: Crest Pontoon - would you recommend?

I asked before how you plan to use it. Here's why. If you'll rarely have more than six aboard and you don't plan to boat in waters that are frequently choppy you'll be happy with it. If the inverse of either is true you need to look for something bigger. If the former is the case it sounds like a winner provided everything checks out. If you need to know what to look for we'll be happy to help with that too. Keep us posted.

Re: Crest Pontoon - would you recommend?

I've done alot of reading about the Crest toons and IMO, I think it would be a top of the line toon to get. I tried bidding on one while on ebay about a year ago and it sold for a premium price. I didn't win the bid, it was a little too rich for my wallet. I would have sure liked to have won the bidding though. Perhaps if I wasn't so tight, I would have gotten it?
