crhsyler sea king 4 hp rusty gas tank

my brother was given a 4hp sea king and the tank is rusty. what would be a good way to clean the thin layer of rust in the tank? also what year/model would this engine be here are the numbers i found on the side<br /><br />mod: vwb52004d<br />ser: 28x22894<br /><br />thanks for any info you guys can help me out with.<br /><br />adam

1982 4 HP made by chrysler. I would trash the gas can and get a new plastic one from walmart for 15 bucks. You will have to get a chrysler force adaptor for the tank unless yours screws off on your old tank. If you choose to use the rusty tank you will want to use a glass filter to filter the rust out so it dont get into the carb.
