Any tips on making your own wires with a universal marine wire kit? They thread into the distributor cap.I had a bad day today.Found an arcing wire and it fixed my misfire when I moved it out of the way.I had to heli-coil the spark plug threads on one side when I bought it and in the process of running the motor, I went in the shop and heard a pop among other noises and when I came out the plug was hanging down on the wire.So looks like a new head gasket and more Heli-coil.It wasnt cross threaded but over the years and from over torque they just break out.I always use 19 ft. lbs. so they were just old.Anyway, any tricks or techniques for making wires, any soldering?

If you have the crimping tool, just fray out the wire a bit on the end so it makes good contact, then crimp the screw terminal on. Yeah, I know, you don't have the tool do you? You probably should have just bought the wires already made up.

LOL.I crimped the wires with my crimping tool and I decided not to solder them. They werent soldered from the factory and all is in time and running like a top.Its amazing that theres two people named C-hab on here.
