Cross-Flow or Looper, How do I tell?

I have a 1989 175 HP Evinrude. Is there an easy way to tell whether its a cross-flow model or a Looper? The model number is E175TXCE. In 1992 it seized up and I had the powerhead replaced with a policy powerhead. E175TXESB. I'm trouble shooting and replacing parts and some parts I ordered say cross-flow (like the reg-rec) and some say Looper (like the power pack). An OMC mechanic told me it was a cross-flow. I appreciate any help.

It's a 160 cid cross flow. Factory replacement powerheads did not have a model number on the core plug. The core plug was stamped RPH with a number stamped under that. In Florida it can get real sticky to get caught with a motor that has two different model and / or serial numbers.

Good luck!

Thank you for the info. The second model # I quoted was handwritten on a reciept I had from the job that i assumed was for the replacement powerhead but I guess it was not. In any case, I guess the original and replacement powereheads are both cross-flows. So when I order parts, I'll just use the original model number as I have been doing. One thing that threw me was the Power pack I ordered from the MasterTech. Its made by CDI Electronics. It says CD-6 T-Shaped Looper, 113-3865. It was supposed to be the right one for my motor. Any thoughts on this?
