Cross Flow versus Looper

I'm wondering if there is a way to tell a looper from a cross flow at a glance? Are there external identifying features which clearly define one from the other without getting into looking at the pistons, flat tops, versus wedge tops. Are they separated by years of manufacturing? Certain years being loopers and others being cross flow? The thermostats look different on the two models from what I can see in the service manuals.
Thanks

for starters... crossflows have a wide, 90 degree V. it is quite obvious when compared to the much narrower V of the Looper. There are other differences, such as horsepower, although there were both 140 corssflows and 140 loopers.

Mine is a 1990 GT 150. Am I confusing the 140 with the 150-175's?

For the record, Crossflows are cooler...and chicks like them a lot better.
