Hey folks:
Just a quick question about my 1998 Tohatsu M90A. I have the owner's manual and the Seloc repair manual, but I've yet to find a top/max RPM and/or a reccomended cruising RPM. I'm new to outboards, especially 2-strokes. Any suggestions?
Thanks...Kjones

Re: Cruising RPM? Tohatsu M90A

Are you sure of the model? What is the exact model/serial?

On page 1 of the M90A owner's manual, in the Specifications table, WOT is listed as 5150-5850.

If you have a TLDI, that model would be MD90A, and the spec table is on page 2 of the owner's manual. Still 5150-5850, BTW.

If you are propped correctly -- to achieve the higher end of the WOT RPM range when running normally loaded at WOT (in your case, say 5800), then a good cruise point is typically 3/4 throttle with a carbed 2-stroke.

If you plan to do any amount of service work yourself, do yourself a favor: Give that aftermarket service manual to someone you don't like, and get a Factory service manual from a dealer.
