Crusader ?

Not sure if this is the correct forum for a question regarding an 8.1 Crusader raw water pump?
Anyway maybe a moderator will move it to its correct place.
A dockmate has a raw water pump leak on a crank mounted pump. Any advice as to how to change this...
It looks pretty straight forward, but sometimes stuff is misleading...
Also he was advised against just changing the impellar (which would be easier and less expensive)... any thoughts on this as well...

"crank mounted pump" meaning bolted to the harmonic balancer, 2 hoses and 3 bolts and a captive strap

So it sounds pretty easy!!!!
Would there be a reason that he was advised against changing the impellar only??
