FWIT, I had an old one back in the 70's that was a runabout and it was ok and a dry ride.
It had a 70HP Chrysler on it that ran good with no problems.

As I recall Chrysler bought DUO in the 60s and the early Chrysler boats resembled the DUO line.As with any old Fiberglass boat you need to check it over for rot Especially the transom and floor If they are suspect you might have a major project on your hands.Eyeball the bottom for any distortion.

chrysler also bought out Lonestar. copied their fiberglass hull, put the lonestar plants out of business, and put their name on it.

from fiberglassics:
1965: Chrysler Boat Corporation formed in May, 1965 with the purchase of Lone Star Boats. The Lone Star name is gone, but Chrysler does an admirable job with the boats and has much success on into the late '70s. Marine Division is discontinued in 1979 and outboard division sold to OMC.

Re: crysler boats any good

Had a '71 16' Sport Fury tri-hull. In the year I had it I managed to punch 2 holes in it; one in the rear deck adjacent to the engine, and the other was where the bow chock of the trailer rests against the hull. Never had done that to a boat before, and haven't since.

The hull was one of the shallower trihulls of the day and was very light. Both attributed to a very rough ride.

Initially had a 45 hp on it and mechanically it was ok but lacked adequate power. Traded it for a 3 cyl 85 which moved the boat much better but I had buddies with OMC products and they could run circles around me in mpg and had no problem staying with me in speed with their 3 cyl loopers. Never had a mechanical problem, but bought it (them) new and traded for a Caravelle with an OMC engine. Much better boat.

My 2c,

Mark
