Anyone ever switch from "regular" B3 props to cupped props? Curious about what to expect. My boat came with 26" props. I recently bought a set of cupped 26" props on eBay for really cheap money, just to play with.

My goal is to decrease my slip numbers at cruising speed. I'm running about 18% slip now at 3200 RPM, which I know is pretty good but if it can be better without hurting any other performance aspect, I figure why not?

Well, put simply, cupping basically adds pitch (also better bite, less slippage, etc). But all other things equal, cupping adds about 2" of pitch, which is going to drag down your rpms about 400. What does loos of 400 rpm do to you? Are you at high end WOT now? Low end WOT?. If low end, not good for engine going 400 rpm below low end WOT. But play around. It's fun to experiment, if the price is right.

Thanks for the reply. From what I've read, the cupping is very mild and will only have about a -75 RPM or so affect at WOT.

Cupping helps reduce your slippage. Reducing your slippage loads your engine more (reduced rpm's), but also has the added advantage of more speed. In most instances, of which I am aware, reducing slippage is a win-win situation.

Mark
