Hello everyone, I couldn't find a specific site for upholstery questions. My boat has cushions and pads attached to the walls, how do you remove these? I had one that was in really bad shape, the wood was rotten. I couldn't find screws from the backside and when I pulled it off the screws were there, almost like the wood was screwed down first and then upholstered which of course is impossible. I have several others that are starting to get bad and would like to pull them off before the wood gets so bad I can't use them for templates. Thanks.

Depends on your boat, I've seen them installed several ways. Some cushions with the buttons on them are actually hiding attaching screws under the buttons. I had one boat where the wall and seat cushions were attached to the fiberglass with snap buttons on one side, and the other side used small screws inserted through the fiberglass side. You would've had to remove the cap to get them off due to limited space in the bow. They might be glued as well.

It's a '77 Glastron, no pics yet, also no buttons on the cushions. It's not snaps either, wish it was.

I know on the front of my Hammond, it looks like the only way they could have been installed was for the cap to be off the hull.

Does it look like your Glastron been installed like that?

The ones on the side of my boat are attached with a tee nut that has a bolt through it from the inside out. Then you just nut and wash on the back side of fiberglass

52Ford and tommy, that's exactly how mine are held on, the bad part is I don't have access to the back side of most of them, they had to have been installed prior to the cap being installed. So I guess it's good that the wood is almost rotted, they are easy to pull off. I just ordered some vinyl, gonna change up the color scheme a bit I think. Should be a good winter project anyway.
