Well lets break down your purchase .

1. Classic fiberglass Boat $100.00 not bad

2. Free tilting boat trailer and AM/FM/CD radio gret deal .

The radio and trailer are worth more than you pid for the boat you havent gotten hurt yet :D.

I will add if you want to spend hours of fun searching try Fiberglassics and The classic boathouse and see if you can find one that looks like yours then you'll know what it is :D.

Re: Unidentified boat rebuild, custom fiberglass parts

ha good point, I'll try to keep that in mind.

I'm curious about the design of the transom, it seems like they installed it, and afterwards added additional small pieces so it would fit on to the cap of the boat. I this normal for a boat this age? should I make the new transom just one whole piece with those additional small pieces being part of the transom???

Does anyone dare to guess how many different color schemes this boat has gone through?

The transom most likely was one piece when it left the factory and over the last 40-60 years has been repaired once or ten times :D and thats why it looks like it was made from seperate pieces . Hmmmmmmmmm how many layers of paint I m gonna guess 5 differant colors hiding under there :D.

Yeah I'm with Rick on your boat. For what you got, $100 is not shabby. That trailer looks fairly decent if nothing else. And your boat has some interesting lines! Could be classic if it was restored! I'm thinking maybe it's missing a windshield?

The dash looks as though it could handle a second steering wheel.. the first go-fast ever? :p

At least the boat has a simple concept to it. I don't see anything too tough to overcome in that restore. As others have mentioned, the transom can be replaced with a single board, which is nice. The trailer is def nice and the controls.. well.. at leasy if you have a gate which doesn't close on its own you now have the hardware to fix that problem ;)

Rickairmedic you're the MAN! I took your advice and tried searching the classic boathouse for the make/model, and I think I found it!!! I'm pretty sure it is a Dorsett Keen Kitten 14' 1960, this is the boat I found that looks EXACTLY like mine

LOL Blue you were up late last night :D although I guess not to late if you just had to go to the D boats to find yours and yep I would have to agree looks just like yours although that one isnt in much better shape it does show you what your windshield should look like . I guess you need to change the title to your thread now to Dorsette Keen Kitten Resto :D.

haha true true, I didn't think of that alternative for the ghetto controls, I did think about getting some good use of the pulleys that came with the controls, there are so many of them!

When I was a kid my Dad had an old 1956 Lone Star with the same type of cable/pulley steering controls. Cool how the steering wheel is on the left side like a car uhh I mean port side. Nowadays they all seem to be on the starboard side.

Yeah I found that really interesting too. At first I thought they just switched the steering to the left side, because the dash shows holes and a mounting spot for the steering wheel on the right side, but the more I look at these classic boats, the more of them I find with the steering on the left. I guess I could leave it like that.

Is this possible? I've been looking all over this forum trying to figure out how to change the title of the thread and I can't find a solution for this!
