Customize bow cap to utilize floor space?

What could be the draw back if I were to cut out the bow cap of this 14' Fiber to add more fishing space. Bought the boat for $250 with the trailer. Already restored the trailer this is on older picture. Boat is completely gutted atm. rebuilding the (mulch) transom and stringers plus deck this weekend. Just had a lightbulb moment. Does the bow cap add structural strength? I can imagine it does, but nothing that cant be replenished by adding a raised deck almost flush with the top rail of the hull sides. Doing this would also add some covered storage space.
