I have a cut in my hull ( 3" long by the width of teh cutting blade) I know I saw other with similar experience. I tried a searce but did not come up with anything. I guess my search key words did not work. Any help on how to mend this cut. Thanks

Re: Cut in hull

Yes it has happened countless times here.... some minor and some real major.

Since you cut the hull obviously you have been planning some other work and the "cut" has made the list.

The repair can mostly be done from the inside by lightly (the key is LIGHTLY) grinding the inside to a shallow V place a layer or two of plastic packing tape outside the hull.

The repair will be a series of layers of cloth and resin...... the first layer applied should be tucked just a bit into your cut.

The outside repair will basically be a gel coat repair.

Take a look at this thread for some great information about all stages of restoration. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=234392&highlight=Cut+Hull
