Cut N Shut outboard driveshaft -good or bad idea??

I am looking to mod the length of an outboard and need 5 inches from the driveshaft, should I go this way? any advice welcome.

If/when it fails, it's going to be under full throttle and your powerhead is going to grenade. I wouldn't advise it. Find the right one. Wutcha got?

89, 90hp ,25 inch Yamaha, scary senario the engine grenading!:^

check with yamaha, johnny rudes have kits for changine from long to short shafts. better you put a jack plate on the boat.
