I just got back from putting my boat in. And what a mess that was! I stared my motor, let it warm up and idled down the river.I got about two hunderd feet when the heat alarm went off. So i shut it down and let it cool down for about 30 min. Then tryed to get back. I ran about three min. when it got hot i looked to see if water was coming out and looked to be doing ok.So i shut it down anouther 30 min.or so and tryed again. This time when it started it sounded like it was running on just three cyl,s The thing was that it never got hot again and i made it to the landing. Now Ive got a bad vibration in the motor and its runs like a three legged mull......My motor is a 1999 115 evn.Whats your verdict?

Re: cyl. problems

Doesn't sound good. Do a compression check. If you get any low readings pull the heads.

Re: cyl. problems

He never said anything about it being blown. He said if you come up with low numbers to pull that head.

Any work on a motor starts with a compression test. That tells you if you have a solid platform or not upon which to build.
