2007 3.0 inline 4 cylinder mercruiser

The weather's been warming up in my area
so i decided to get the boat out of storage
when I went to fire it up it
it was misfiring and wouldn't run very good
at first I thought it was a stuck choke, loading up, etc...
so I was going to open that up and take it from there
however upon further investigation I found #1 spark plug had exploded
the elctrode dropped down into the cylinder, etc...
lubed compustion chambers, , cranked it over to blow out contamiants, replaced all the plugs now it seems to run fine
any others out there had this type of problem, or similar?

Some one mention the possibility of water ingestion in that cylinder
and that spark plug getting impacted via some type of hydro lock?

Can't image just the cold weather in itself being the culprit
of course I'd like to determine specificlly what happen to correct the problem
and or avoid it happening again

Thanks
