cylinder numbers?

I have a 88 johnson 110 vro. How are the cylinders numbered? (I.e. is top port cyl 1 and bottom port cyl 2?) Trying to hook up new coil and wires and dont know what the numbers are for the cylinders. Thanks.

Standing in back of the engine, facing the spark plugs, the cylinders are number as follows.

2.....1

4.....3

While standing as mentioned above, look closely at the spark plugs and you'll see that #1 is higher than all the rest, followed down by #2, then #3, and finally #4, hence the numbering setup.
