I have taken the head off my volvo, gave her a cleaning and a lapping. The top of my pistons could use a cleaning...how can I clean them without fear of getting junk in my rings? I have considered using a vacuum to suck up the carbon, but I'm still unsure if this will work. Any ideas? thanks in advance.

Re: cylinders

Hello, You can use the vacuum, It will help to get the carbon out of the cylinder. Try rotating the engine so the pistons are even with the top of the block. This way the space in the cylinder will be less. Also try taking a piece of small wood or a piece of broken broom stick and using that as a scraper. It will keep you from gouging the piston tops or the cylinder wall. Hope this helps!
