What would be the best way to fix this? I am guessing that the thickness in this area is between 1/8 and 1/4, although I haven't measured it yet.

Re: Damage repair question

My boat has a very similar hole in the splashwell. It was cut there to allow the steering tube and cable to fit. I am entertaining the idea of looking for boots to cover the hole. You could do the same thing, just take one of the hoses or wires(whatever they are in your pic that is going through the larger hole) and disconnect them from one end or the other, slide a rubber boot over it and reinstall. You might need to use a few blocks of PT wood behind and up under the splashwell for the screws to have something to bite into. Either that or grind the area down to fresh glass on both sides(good luck with the inside:redface:) then cut glass matt and cloth the the right shape, use resin and try to keep it as thin and flat as you can on the outside but build up more layers on the inside for strength then use a glass fairing compound(not bondo) to smooth out then sand and paint to match(or not).
