Damaged Distributer?

2000 Four Winns Horizon 200 with 5.0 GI.

I had to pry between the rotor button and distributer trying to get the rotor to let loose. I finally had to take my dremel and cut a slit in it to get it off. Anyway, after removing it I noticed the brown round donut looking piece is slightly loose and moves around just a little. Maybe this is normal, I just did not notice it before.

Anyone know?

There was an automotive distributer cap with aluminum posts on it that was very corroded. I had to sand the shaft and grease it a little to get the new rotor button to go back on. I have no idea what kind of trouble I will have next year!

Thanks for any thoughts.

It does move around a little hopefully you didn't damage anything by prying on it.

Re: Damaged Distributer?

Great! I am glad to hear that. I don't think anything else is wrong, I will find out when starting it. I had no idea how to get it off. I pulled and twisted with my hands for quite a while before putting a screwdriver on it to pry with. I have never had one even come close to being as stuck as this one. I think the rust on the shaft basically made it "swell" and the only way was to cut it off.
