Damaged prop value?

So I bought a new (unused) prop on ebay. It looked unused from the pics and I got it for a good price. Then USPS damaged it during shipping; I opened it at the usps counter. Clearly unused but one blade tip was bent over and shipping box was damaged. Now repaired my question is....

New value versus it's repaired value? If new was $150.00. Now ?? Repair was done by a professional propeller repair shop (I won't see it till later today). Bay Propeller in Alameda, Ca.

Also here are pics of damage before repair. IMG_2446.JPG IMG_2449.JPG

I will upload repair pics later today after the UPS delivery. Opps, UPS broke down.... Delivery will be rescheduled.

Not looking to resell just ascertain lost value due to repair.

Thanks Glenn

if your not trying to sell it, are you trying to get re-reimbursement from USPS? if extra insurance wasnt added, good luck.

buying a used prop is like buying any used part. the value is what both parties agree on, so not sure if that helps, however since I boat in the land of shifting channels and the occasional sunken boat, a new prop is simply one that hasnt been bent and repaired, and a repaired prop is one that will get bent again.

Probably still worth about what you originally paid for it.

The reason I ask is that USPS wants to reimburse me the purchase price only. Since the shipper started the the claim online and didn't include the photo's I sent him I am locked out of adding proper info or pics. High resolution pics I took will be printed onto paper then faxed , most likely in B&W, so the person deciding will be limited to the info I can provide as to loss of value. The shipper insured this item for 100.00.

$88.00 for an unused prop was a good deal. $125.00 for a repaired prop, not so good.... If they only remburse me the purchase price I'm out an extra 55.00. Bay Propeller did the repair for VERY fair price. I won't know that USPS will decide for maybe another 60 days.....

Paid 70.00
Ship 18.00

Then gas to deliver for repair;150mi round trip. (I've got time and prefer to hand deliver a repair item like this in person.)
22.50
Repair 52.00
Ship 15.00
-----------
$125.00

Thanks for those responses! I guess I'm crying over spilled milk.... Seeing that damage when I opened the package and now just hoping for the best. Live and learn.

Haven't made it to fresh water yet. Maybe next year! Well that's if there's enough rain here on the West Coast....

Again Thanks

Glenn

What am I missing here? Where does $125 come from?
70+18=$88
52 + 22.5 + 15 = $89.50
88 + 89.50 = $177.50
$177.50 - $88 = $89.50

If UPS reimbursed the purchase price, you're not out anything. The repair price and purchase price is a wash, so your new prop turned into a repaired prop (which sucks). Not sure what I would have done, I may have cut my losses and started looking for another new Ebay prop. Who knows, it may run better than a new prop?.....

there you go. your new price on your prop off of ebay was $70 plus the $18 you paid in shipping. USPS is giving you the insured value of $100. you paid $68 for a repair. you have a $78 prop that cost you $56 plus fuel ($70+$18-$100+$52+$15+$22.50). so you still have a $88 prop that cost you $77.50 for. bolt it on and go boating

Agnot , I see what you mean, even if I don't get the math. It's now not the prop you wanted. The prop shop I go to would not work on that blade a second time, so the value is less, how much I don't know .
