I have a newly rebuilt 3.0L engine, and it is time to change the oil after the initial break-in. I bought one of the little pumps at Cabela's to change the oil, but I cannot make the little plastic hose go down the dipstick tube. Anybody know a trick to get this done?

Thanks

is it to big? i bought the pump for a drill motor and it came with 3 different size hoses and it took the smallest one to get down the dipstick hose. i also streched mine out for a day because when i tried to used it was coiled up and i didnt want it to hit the bottom of the pan and curl up and not get all the oil

I don't go down the tube with my pump, i go on the tube itself. See if you can find some tubing that fits snugly on the tube and adapt it to your pump.

Thanks for the replies.

The original hose was small enough to go in the tube as directed, it was just not rigid enough to make it around the slight curve to the bottom of the pan. I went to Home Depot and bought some 1/4" PEX tubing designed for refrigerator water supply use. It was more rigid, and just a hair narrower than what was packaged with the pump. It went right in.

That oil was black gold all the way. I am glad I got it changed.

Best Regards and Happy Boating,
Bill
