Hi!

I've been thinking for some time now to purchase a small inflatable boat...one that could take my 15 Johnson ...and one that could "easily" be placed in the back of a pick-up.

I'm in the process of sorting out the brands and construction differences. There's a company just down the road from me that sells boats on e-bay under the Danard brand name (their house-brand...) They don't actually manufacture the boats...they make reference to a major manufacturer who makes them to their specs...etc etc.

Anyone care to comment on Danard boats? Anyone know who makes them?

Here's a e-bay link

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-106-inflatable-boat-RIB_W0QQitemZ7198642626QQcategoryZ15266QQcmdZViewItem

Thanks for reading, Chuck

It looks like the standard Korean PVC fabric boat that is manufactured for Mercury.

They're made in China, supposedly in the same plant that makes Achilles. I friend of mine has had two of them and there are a number of them in Ventura and Channel Islands Marina's since Danard Marine is located in Oxnard (DA Nard). The owner's seem happy with them. My impression is the finish is just a tad sloppy with some winkles in the transom overlapping fabric. The PVC model leaches the plasticizer fairly easily in constant sunlight, but appears durable. They carry the Haplon models now also. The rib bottom is nicely made. The tubes are very large diameter. Overall, they seem like a good value.

I have one and a friend of mine has one as well. We find the DaNard to be very stable, well built, user friendly, and reasonably priced. I have not had a problem with mine and have owned it for 3 years now.

In fact, I had gone out on a sea rescue and had to use the DaNard to bring a tow line to a grounded vessel in heavy seas. By the time everything was ready to go, the dinghy was full of water, had 2 people in it, an outboard and still was very stable. It made my day!
