dang 1977 johnson

This what i have comeing from harness, 2 black, 1 yellow with black, 1 red and purple, 1 purple and white, 1 white. i have purple and white running to choke ,but choke will not work,stays closed all the time ,one yellow and black to (m) 1 white to (a) red and purple to (b) so i don't know were the two blacks go to , maybe i choke is toast ,do you think? Any help you can be would be very kind ,thanks very much ,budt

put the black wires to the m terminals
the red to the b
the purple/white is for your choke
the white is for your starter solenoid (i forget which terminal it is on the keyswitch)

the "a" should be for accessories

I have no clue what the yel/blk is for, perhaps someone else may be able to help you there.
I am assuming that the red/purple goes to that "b" terminal because I have two separate wiring for mine that go to the "b". Red for power and the purple to power my choke (which is goes to a switch and then back to the choke)

There should be directions that come with the key switch.
