dangling plastic tape

After loading the boat and pulling it from the water my wife said there was something dangling from under the trailer. Unfortunately, I couldn't get under the boat to investigate because there were others pulling out behind me waiting to de-rig their boats. So, I reached under the boat and pulled off what appears to be a two foot by four inch piece of white tape.

Could this be the white plastic wrap you see shrunk around boats going down the highway on the big boat transporters? Why would this piece still be attached to the bottom of my boat? I have had it in the water maybe 15-16 times.

The tape material was caught between the boat and the bunk.

Thanks,

Re: dangling plastic tape

It's the Keystone Tape that most manufacturers use to keep the hull from splitting in two. You know what a Keystone is, the one stone that if removed makes the whole structure crumble to the ground. ;)

Might've just been something floating around in the water that got caught between the trailer and boat when you loaded.

You know that keystone tape maybe something I need to look for at Overton's. Do you think it is expensive?

I noticed my boat did take up a lane and a half of highway on the way home, and I could barely get it into the garage! Thought it was because I was so tired.

Yeah, I read that, but it only works with epoxy. It reacts against Styrene.
