I ordered a ranger with a dash mounted x-95 ...now add a black boat cover and a 90 degree sunny day. Will my electronics hold up to this heat?Would a silver cover make a big difference? thanks

musky,

You bet it will. The temp. differences could be as much as 30-40 degrees.

I do not believe the excess heat will bother the electronics though.

Re: Dash Electronics

Electronics are most damaged by heat which dries out the electroltic material in capacitors, destroys LCD displays and stesses all electronic parts. Heat is an enemy.

Musky
I agree with Ron, heat is a killer. It may last until the waranty is up but high heat will shorten life. My boat get to 145 with the cover on in summer. I take the electronics out, but a shade cover would also help.
I never herd of a Lowrance X95 is that new. Know the X91, X97, X98 all good shallow water units.
