Dash will be fixed under warranty, maybe not the labor?

I originally put this in the Lowe boat section but never received any replies, just curious what a more broader audience thinks?

In this older post http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=260485 you will see that I have had 2 cracked dashes, 1st one was fixed under warranty 2 yrs ago, no questions asked. This second one I was told would not be covered because there is only a 1 yr warranty on interior parts like dashes?
After talking with my dealer he said he would fight on my behalf because it was clearly a manufacturering defect, Lowe said they would cover it but my dealer was not sure if the labor was going to be covered? He said he wouldn't know until he received the dash and paper work to see if labor was covered?
He said if it wasn't it would be approx $200 to fix it?
What is your take on this? Do you think Lowe should cover the labor as well? Do most boat companies normally cover the labor or just the parts? Should I contact Lowe themselves and find out what they say rather than just what my dealer says? Thanks in advance............Irv964

see the paper work. it will say if he is getting reimbused. i think you are wishing for something , that is not going to happen.

It would be nice if they covered it, but out of warranty means out of warranty, they have no real obligation to help out at all. They have gone beyond what you contracted with them to do, you buy their boat and they cover defects or problems for 1 year. Many manufacturers do cover things like this for PR reasons and them supplying the part at no cost is a step in that direction, wait and see what the work order from Lowe says.

If this was a safety issue, or a common problem affecting may boats, then there would more of chance they would cover it.

I would write a short, factual letter to Lowe Boats Customer Relations stating your case. I once got Ford to repaint a ten year old truck by contacting the factory representative.
