dash wire

i just re-did the dash on my 89 sea-ray 160.i marked all the wires with a tag,however one of the tags became wet and unreadable.the wire is red with 12+ coming out of it.i cannot figure out where it goes to.i have the manual for the boat/motor but it does not include the wiring schematic.any help will be appreciated.:)

Well, Flasher, you have a 12V+ wire that is not powering anything right now. One question. When you apply 12V to the helm, what isn't working?

thanks for your quick reply seabob.
let me clarify this a little.i had to take the gauges out to redo the dash.the only wires that i disconnected where the wires that go to the gauges,tach volt,temp,trim,etc.when the key is turned to the on position the gauges move fine.dash lights are working.i havent started the motor yet trying to figure this out before i do.

Based on the fact that you have a SeaRay, I would guess it's either a fuse block feed, or it runs to the ignition switch...btw, does your SR have the breaker right by the ign switch?

A plain red wire is usually unswitched +12VDC. The only thing you mentioned that works with the key off is the PTT system. I would start with that...
