I just got a new motor that does not match the original instruments on the dash. I have been wondering what you all prefer or require for gauges.
Do you feel/have to have a tach., trim, gas gauge, hour meter, etc?
Do you like analog or digital? Why?
Do you like one gauge for one purpose or like everything all in one gauge?
Is wiring a 2012 yahama 70 HP hard to do if your not a pro mechanic?

Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer analog gauges and like one gauge for each function. I would have all the gauges you list plus temp; oil; mph; fuel. The more gauges you have, the easier it is to catch problems before they get expensive!!
Why do I prefer analog? Easier to read when the sun is shining on the dash, and more reliable! ( I've had too many digital readout failures to trust them:( )

i like digital read outs but the digitals dont like sun light or heat so analog just makes more sense. the digital can display more data so i think it depends on the size of the dash realy

both digital and analog gauges have advantages and disadvantages .... for some functions I believe one may be superior and for another function it may not .... for that reason, I use a mixture
