Really need pictures, but a lot of places make stick on veneers in anything from wood grain to carbon fiber that can make one look new and are easy to install.
Might have been built with a chopper gun and left "raw" ......... push on the gauges....any flex? Probably just time for a fiberglass repair. Removing the gauges, a small amount of grinding and some fiberglass application......
