Data Plate, S/N location?

Hi Folks,

Just bought an 18' Starcraft aluminum skiff

It has an OMC V4 outboard and there are both an Evinrude Starflite 115 and a Johnson Sea Horse 90 cowl laying in the boat...both cowls fit the motor, so I'm guessing it is one or the other. I've looked all over the motor for a data tag or S/N to no avail...any idea where to look?

Thanks,

John

Look on the transom clamps for a metal plate or a sticker.
Look on the block for a silver core plug, about the size of a quarter, it should have the model number stamped in it.

Thanks for the info! Didn't find anything on the transom clamps, but did find the core plug:

J90MLCNB
J5685785

I'm guessing the "J90" is a Johnson 90HP? Do these numbers indicate the date it was built?

Thanks,

John
