I've mentioned on here before that my daughter has cerebral palsy. We were lucky enough to participate in a fundraiser this afternoon. The handicapped kids got to play flag football with Ohio State Football players. They had "football buddies". The "buddies" pushed them, caught the ball for them, and pretty much did anything that their handicap doesn't allow them to do. My family happens to be HUGE Ohio State fans, but even if you hate football or the Buckeyes  you would have been very impressed with these young men. Not only did they donate their time, but they made these kid's days. They treated them like "normal" people and that doesn't happen much. My wife and I were very impressed. We've been home for a few hours and our daughter is still smiling!

That is just wonderful Buck! Glad the guys were there , and that your daughter got some grins. Seems like a simple thing, but we who are normal use of our bodies take it for granted pretty easily.Glad she got a kick out of it.:)

It was a pretty awesome day! It was neat to see her that happy (dad wasn't upset about being there either). The only bummer of the day was she had an Ohio State poster with about 25 autographs. She was pretty happy about it and someone decided to steal it. Oh well, we've got plenty of pictures (although I would have loved to catch someone taking that thing):mad:

Great to see and thanks for sharing your day. Looks like a great time was had by all. Shame about the poster but the memories can not be taken from you.

It's really great to see a Division 1 college getting involved with the community. Many types of people, all gathering for a good cause!! Good Times. :D

Good to hear that those kids are giving back to their community. Most of them probably had just as good of a time as your daughter did. There are still a lot of good people out there, you just don't hear about them much.

I'm glad your daughter and you both had a great time. How anyone would steal a poster at an event like that is beyond comprehension.

I'd bet that if you called or sent an e-mail to someone on the university athletic staff thanking them for their participation in the event and asking them if you could send them a poster to get signed as a replacement for the one that was stolen, one might mysteriously show up at your door. After all, the Buckeyes sound like a real class act, even though I'm a Mizzou fan.

I've actually already done that, with great results! I sent the event organizer an e-mail explaining what happened. I told her I knew it was a stretch, but I wondered if she could help. Didn't hear anything back yesterday. Got an email today from Jim Tressel, Ohio State head coach. He told me that he was glad my daughter had a good time, said he was sorry about what happened, and he would send out another poster! He even asked my if I would send him a picture of Britney and one of his players. Truly, a class act!;)
