De-carbing at home

I want to de-carb my 1977 Evinrude 85hp but I don't have a set of muffs. Judging by what I read on this site, it makes a real mess when you restart after spraying this stuff through the motor. I shouldn't think it would be good to run the motor in a "bucket" recycling this dirty water.

Any advice about what I should do in performing this de-carb?

Thanks,
Joe

I may sound like an idiot, but how do you use the muffs? I would guess that they just hug the intake ports and you hook them up to a hose.

What do you do with the water prior to starting the motor? Wouldn't the pressure build up?

Just put them on turn on the water fully, start you motor and stand back. It will smoke worse than your neighbours BBQ.

Other than that do a search for decarb or look at the FAQ
