While doing other repairs, thought I would do a de-carb treatment. Had a couple questions.

1. Are spray in the carb engine cleaner products effective? Was told by a local Yamaha dealer that Mercury's cleaner is better than Yamaha's?

2. Is the procedure simply to remove carb cover, run engine at idle and spray in one carb at a time until rough idle then let engine recover and move on to the next carb?

3. Should plugs be replaced after de-carb treatment.

Re: De-Carbon treatment questions

typically you run at higher rpm then idle as the decarb will want to stall the engine. instructions come on the merc "powertune" cans.
the plugs will be fine new or old.
