So I need to do some maintenance on my 87 merc 130 i/o.

I am changing the engine oil and plugs for sure.
the P/o had the outdrive serviced last year and the impeller done 2-3years ago/150 hrs ago. Should I do these or wait until next year?
Also he did the points 2 years ago, should these be redone?

Thanks

Re: De-winterization ?

Normally motor oil and gear oil are refreshed in the fall, just before winterization. I would change points and plugs whenever they are needed (plugs electrode strap usually wears out first. Points get burnt up). it wouldn't hurt to change the waterpump impeller.

Ayuh,... Wander down to the I/O forum,...
In there, there's a post at the top titled Adults Only,...
In the Adults Only section you'll find a listing for Summerization,.. Click it...

Also while there, download yourself the factory manuals for your motor,+ drive....
