Well, I must admit I am making an assumption about the impeller. (is this where you say "jeez, why did he post if he's not positive?). The pump doesn't sound quite right and it is not leaking, but it is not pumping enough water to keep the engine cool enough. I thought might just be the thermostat, but that doesn't account for the strange sound it is making. Even if it's not the impeller, it's not working right and the belts are fine, nothing is loose, it just suddenly started. First a small strange sound from the pump, then it got a little louder, then it maintained an odd humming and stopped keeping the engine cool enough, unless it's idling.
