I think this is the most appropriate section to post this. Mods, please feel free to move if necessary...I won't be offended.

Any of you guys in Jacksonville, FL area ever hear of dealership called The Boat King? I'm researching the history of my boat and that was apparently where it was originally sold when new. Internet search did not reveal a website for them, and boattrader.com has a page for them, but no boats listed for sale.

Are they out of business? Does anyone know their reputation, past or present? Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks to all.

BTW - I bought it from dealer in SC - must have been bought at wholesale auction or owner moved here, I presume.

Never heard of them either. There are tons of guys around here operating smal shops on vacant lots or sharing space with the buy-here-pay-here car guys. Lots of flipping with small inexpensive boats going on.

That doesn't sound like a good thing...would a place like that (small, shadetree type places) have the ability to sell brand-spankin-new Stingray boats? I would like to think that the Stingray company would have some sort of vetting process or quality control in regards to who / under what conditions their boats are sold. I equate it to the auto industry - you can only get a new car from a bonafide dealer. Is it like that in the marine world as well? Just curious. Thanks.

No. A brand new Stingray would be sold by a traditinoal dealer. It used to be the marina on Goodby's creek. Jacksonvbille Yacht Sales I believe. Not sure who sells the Stingray line now.

I believe the big boat manufactures sell new only through their dealer network. I've also heard that leftovers can be bought in volume from dealers by brokers and resold.

Many of the smaller builders sell direct.
