decal removal

Need some advice. Decals been on boat for about two years. Boat is fighting lady yellow and kept on the trailer not covered or in a garage in eastern north carolina. Boat is waxed with 3m product two or three times a year. I know that there has been some fading on the hull and need to know what can be done once the decals are off so you want see the outline of the decal or letters? Any help would be great or a product to use.

Ayuh,......

I think your 2 Choices are,...

Put New stickers on where the old 1s were,....
Or,...
Colorsand the Whole Hull to get it to Match,...... well,.. Atleast where it's faded...
Then rewax of course.....

youi can get some light paint stripper rub light the wash off, the wax entire boat to get the less faded area a little more faded...

What is the best method to use to release decals from a gel gloss surface?
I need to remove the hull ID numbers which are stickers, and those buggers are stuck on there good.

heat gun and careful with a razor blade should do just fine...

Just as WCA said but you can use plastic razors they sell them at any detail shop. There perfect for this. and wont harm the paint or scratch it.

As the others have stated ( Try the Heat Gun) but you will never get the shadows out of the fiberglass completely no matter what you do short of repainting. Put the new numbers and letters over top where the old ones were to cover the shadows as much as possible after using 3m Color Restore and wax according to the instructions on the bottle. "Chuck's Fiberglass" You must use a Commercial Buffer at slow speed. The stripes and names will always be slightly visible. You might be better off to take the boat to a Graphic Detail shop and have them put new stripes on your Boat. They can do a computer color match. If you decide to re stripe take the boat there before you remove the old stripes if you want to match the colors exactly.
